Description
Entering the Forbidden City in Beijing, China from Red Square, one passes through the imposing historic Meridian Gate. Knowing for centuries millions of people common and famous have walked by the huge red doors is a humbling experience. It is the entrance to what was the hub and heart of one dynasty after another ruling the Chinese Empire. Things change. Now females are allowed to enter through this gate and governmental activities take place outside its walls not within. Standing in Red Square, I felt excited anticipating the many visual discoveries I would find inside. A close, different focus on this old traditional Chinese architecture has created a modern exciting abstract photo painting which I believe expresses some of the feelings I had going through the Meridian Gate.
