I absolutely love this photo of Hazel. My first visit to the Smoky Mountains was in April 2017. I have been searching for a black bear photo for years and this one stole my heart. This beautiful girl was photographed the same year. I am very pleased with the canvas print!!

It was a bright clear spring day on my first visit to the Heian Shrine in Kyoto, Japan. While far from the oldest shrine in Japan, it and the gardens surrounding the many brightly painted structures combine to make it one of the most beautiful. Even with the cherry trees not in full blossom, there was a cornucopia of visual delights which made my visit of several hours pass rapidly and I knew I would revisit in the future. The traditional Japanese architecture with its intricate wood craftsmanship combines simplicity and complexity, creating many different compositions when examined closely. An example is this wood door latch near the main gate becomes a bold, modern minimalist photo painting.

Architecture and architectural detail have been a lifelong love. As a matter of fact, many of my first drawings and paintings were of barns on and around my grandparents farm. When deciding what university major to pursue, it was only due to my less than outstanding math grades that prevented my choice of architecture.
