Climbing the many levels of the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, China, has many visual rewards. Discovering the intricate roof tiles close up, being amazed at the wood construction, seeing the multi-colored architectural decoration from many different angles, and gazing outward at the city spread out for miles in every direction. Unlike in a moving airplane, this stable high vantage point allowed for viewing downward into the surrounding neighborhoods. My telephoto lens captured views of daily life. Like this enclosed courtyard strung with a line of drying laundry. A unique abstract photo painting from everyday Chinese life.

Architecture and architectural detail have been a lifelong love. As a matter of fact, many of my first drawings and paintings were of barns on and around my grandparents farm. When deciding what university major to pursue, it was only due to my less than outstanding math grades that prevented my choice of architecture.
