Mushrooms Appearing For A One-Day Visit

Some of the countryside’s most interesting moments are the ones that don’t last long enough to become landmarks. After a hot, humid morning, a small group of mushrooms suddenly appears in the grass beside an old weathered barn. Their brief arrival is easy to overlook, yet for a day or so they become an unexpected part of the summer landscape.

For me, these are the discoveries that make wandering Hancock County worthwhile.
